Terry Fox Run & more (Also in English)

Hallo allemaal!

Ondertussen ben ik al meer dan een maand in Canada en ongeveer een maand in Prince George en ik begin een beetje gewend te raken aan het leven hier. Hoewel ik me nog steeds over veel dingen kan verbazen (lees: de obsessie met Tim Hortons) en dat alles hier groter is behalve de Nutella. De afgelopen week heb ik niet zo heel veel bijzonders gedaan. Woensdag ben ik naar Rebekka's (Zwitserland) huis geweest samen met Julia (Duitsland). Donderdag ben ik naar een van mijn Canadese vrienden geweest (jaja mensen, ik krijg echt vrienden!). Vrijdag was er een barbeque van de stad voor alle uitwisselingsstudenten van high school en college/universiteit. Het was erg gezellig en ik heb veel mensen die gezien die ik al een tijdje niet gezien had (bijv. een paar mensen die ik in ottawa had leren kennen). Daarna ben ik met Iris (Nederland) naar een Football game gegaan, dit keer DPSS (Duchess Park Secondary School, mijn school) tegen PGSS (Prince George Secondary School, Iris' school van travellifeofiris.blogspot.com).

Terry Fox Run

Op school hadden we deze week ook de Terry Fox Run, of eigenlijk, Terry Fox Walk, want op de Grade 8's na was niemand aan het rennen. Het is een jaarlijkse Run om geld op te halen voor kanker onderzoek, het wordt op de meeste scholen in Canada gedaan en zelfs in 25 andere landen. Google het als je er meer over wil weten, er is ook een filmpje gemaakt over Terry Fox dat je op YouTube kunt vinden.
Ondertussen heb ik ook de meeste van mijn hobby e.d. geregeld, ballet en spitzen les, cross-country, personal fitness, schaatsen is helaas niet gelukt, ondanks de 7 ijsbanen in de stad. Op de ijsbaan vlak bij mijn huis geven ze namelijk geen kunstschaatslessen en de andere zijn de ver weg. Maar ik kan wel op de vrije uren hier naar de ijsbaan gaan. Ook zit ik er over te denken om toch iets met muziek te gaan doen hier, maar dat weet ik nog niet zeker.
Verder heb ik ook het grootse deel van mijn tripjes geregeld, ik ga over twee weken naar Vancouver en Victora (op Vancouver Island) en begin December naar New York City en waarschijnlijk in de Spring Break naar Banff. Als dat allemaal door gaat ben ik aan het einde van het jaar in Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia en Alberta en Amerika, New York ben geweest!

I'm already more than a month in Canada and almost a month in Prince George and I'm starting to get used to life here. Although a lot a things still astonish me here (read: the obsession with Tim Hortons) and that every thing is bigger except the Nutella. Last week I didn't do a lot a special stuff. On Wednesday I went to Rebekka's (Switserland) place together with Julia (Germany). On Thursday I went to one of my Canadian friends (yes people, I'm getting friends!). On Friday there was a BBQ from the City for a exchange student (highschool, college and university). It was a lot of fun and I got time to talk to people who I hadn't seen since the Preparation Camp in Ottawa. After that I went to a Football game with Iris (Netherlands), it was DPSS (Duchess Park Secondary School, my school) against PGSS (Prince George Secondary School, Iris' School, travellifeofiris.blogspot.com).

At school we had the Terry Fox Run this week, or actually, the Terry Fox Walk, because except the Grade 8's nobody was running. It is an annual run to raise money for cancer research, most school in Canada participate in this event, they even do it in 25 other countries. You can Google it if you want to know more about it, there is also a video about Terry Fox which you can find on YouTube.
Meanwhile I also organized most of my hobbies, ballet, pointe, cross-country, personal fitness, unforunatle I didn't manage to organize figure skating, though we have about 7 rinks in the city. On the rink close to my house they don't give figure skating classes, and the other ones are to far away. But I can go to the rink when it is open any way, I just don't have classes. I'm also thinking about doing something with music here, but I'm not sure about that yet, but I'm really missing making music.
Besides that I also organized most of the trips that I'll be making this year. I'm going to Vancouver and Victoria (on Vancouver Island) in two weeks and in the first week of december to New York City and in the Spring break probably to Banff. So at the end of the year I have been in Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, Alberta and America, New York! And I though I was just going to Prince George!
So how is every thing going in our tiny, rainy country? (Though every body who is reading the English part of my blog is probably not from The Netherlands)
